Wouldn't a hotlink protection be a better idea? I find it annoying in general having to register on a site just to download.
Personally, I say make it so this is temporary until we install some hotlink protection.
EDIT: Nevermind, was informed that the sites were also hammering us with the actual download page links, not just the direct link.
