Man our posts are dropping rapidly (kinda a rant.)

KS's activity is practically nonexistant at the moment, and honestly I can't think of much of anything that'd bring activity here.

Really, where'd all the members go? I check the place every single day, yet it seems like most of our users have completely forgotten about the place. Even kitsune doesn't seem to have time for it.

Our members would all rather post on 4chan lite (that's MFGG for those who don't know of my pet name for it.) and laugh over recycled /v/ memes than visit us. Hell we even have several members who ONLY visit KS when MFGG is unavailable to them for whatever reason. That's a bit harsh to MFGG though, and really it's probably a bit of a misguided way of looking at it, because I guarantee every single person who posts here has at least one other forum they're more active on and is more involved with.

It drives me crazy, because our community is falling apart. We hardly have any kind of unification here, we're all just a handful of completely different people who are connected at the most through some sorta mild interest in video games leaning slightly towards Nintendo's end.

Want proof of this? How many of us here genuinely care about what kind of projects our various members work on? How many of us genuinely care about Sasuke's modeling, 123James's comics, Marmie's artwork, Peardian's sprite comic, Dragmire's game ideas or Yoshiman and Tri's music? How many of us even genuinely care about RyuFox Legends for that matter?

This certainly isn't any of their fault, because we all know that every one of them works hard on what they do and they all deserve praise, it's just that KS is not at all a receptive audience, again because we have such a loose affiliation with each other. It's why I don't post my custom cover arts or metal music here, because I know that it would receive lukewarm interest at best, and I'm better off showing it to an audience I know that at the very least would be more receptive.

And that's the ultimate problem here, we're not connected in any signifigant way. No amount of "community projects" or IRC spamming is really going to change that. I don't really have a point to all this other than that as much as we want to blame members, MFGG, or anything else, it boils down to the fact that KS is simply a weak community.

I don't know what to do here, and really I'm convinced that there's nothing that can be done. We just have to sit it out and hope some activity comes back, that is if we ALL haven't abandoned the place by then.

I stopped going to MFGG a while ago actually. Aside from DA, this is the only place I visit. Though I'd say I visit them both just as often.

Honestly, I feel like I'm just getting what I deserve for not caring too much about all those other people's projects... >.>



But I digress. I've definitely noticed the lack in activity recently.

I agree with every word of the OP. Having been here since 2006 on the old forums activity has been dropping steadily. We can't keep new members, old members don't post (yeah I'm guilty of this.) all attempts to stir up activity fail etc. etc.

I forgot why I quoted these parts but whatever. Yeah

I blame myself for not trying to stop the decline in activity, I had plans to start projects for the forum but I kept focusing on attempting to make money and letting those projects fall to the side. That's also why I don't post much. Sorry.

So what are we going to do about this?

The two points I was trying to make were that for one, we can't blame anything for the forum's inactivity, since it's largely the result of the nature of our community itself, and secondly, there really isn't much we can actually do about it.

So don't try to blame yourself in any way.
